Try Los CaƱos de la Meca it isn't your typical spanish tourist spot. It's well known to the spanish themselves & also seen as a bit of a surfers paradise.
You get all sorts there from the surfers to the well to do spanish. Many young people go there to camp out on the beach or at the camping site there. It's a bit out of the way so you don't have all the mod cons of the Costa del Sol / Luz but that's part of it's charm.
A lot of spanish who go there normally own something there so there aren't too many hotels to choose from. You probably need to hire a car and it might be considered a bit basic for your normal tourist but the beaches make up for that. Plus your close to Barbate & Tarifa.

There are other seaside / beach towns such as Chipiona,Conil & Chiclana, all have a lively night life and god hotels etc..!
Puerto Santa Maria has some lovely beaches La Muralla so do check it out before you dismiss it. It has several other beaches so you can spend different days at different beaches.
You should check out hotels in Tarifa,CaƱos de la Meca and Barbate for any special offers the may have.
Check out Rota in Cadiz and look up the Hotel Playa de la Luz there. It really is nice there and Rota has a good night life too.

Jerez is a beautiful town but not your typical tourist town as it's not on the beach but within driving distance of many of the above beaches.
You should plan what you want to do there. Some good places to visit are the Gonzalez Byass winery / bodega. They have English tours and you're better to just take the wine tasting tour and forget the tapas as you can gert tapas in the centre quite reasonably. Also check out the Alcazar and visit the Camera Oscuro.
Check out this website to help you

You can fly to Jerez or Seville airport from London.
Hope this is of some help to you. |

Try Costa de la Luz (Cadiz) where the beaches are much much better than in Costa del Sol. The sand is white, and there are big waves, because it's the Atlantic Ocean. Plus there are too many English tourists in Costa del Sol, and by going to Costa de la Luz you will be interacting with the Spanish locals and get to know our culture. And it's cheaper! |

We often fly into Alicante!!!
The area around there is beautiful! Alicante itself is very nice and then there is also the city of Murcia and Torrevieja!
My parents went to Barcelona a couple of years ago for a long weekend and they said it was perfect for a couple of days, and although it's a city, the beaches are very nice and it's not too busy, it's just a bit expensive! |

I live on the Costa del Sol. Nerja east of Malaga has great beaches. They are cove like beaches and very safe. The surrounding area is absolutely stunning. There are lots of great apartments to rent at Burriana Beach. |

well, if your looking for beaches sun and shopping in the costa del sol i would highly recomend marbella...... its not the most typical spanish town, and its very touristy, but its perfect for short getaways! |

Cost del Sol? Ugh. If you have to I would pick Marbella.
BUT why not look East to Nerja and east. Or Tarifa to the west.
Use Google earth to find the kind of beach you want. |
