Spain: How much will it cost per day to travel?

My wife and I are travelling to Spain in November. What will it cost to stay in decent hotels and how much are meals?

Friends just returned from Italy and they spent $80/day on what they thought was quite average food and $125+ on lodging. Can we anticipate similar prices in Spain?

gues you like to stay at 3star hotels and eat out normal, that way, and knowing november is off season, you can get a hotel double room in cities like madrid and barcelona from 100euro and less crowded cities and towns from around 60euro.
some 2star hotels are also nice, starting at about 50euro.
check websites for hotels like www.hostelz.com or www.hostelbooker.com or www.hostelworld.com .
they have also a section for hotels.

food is cheap in spain, beside in barcelona, the most expensive place in the country, but the rest, you can get a nice plate of paella for starting 8euro and a good menue del dia with good servings starting at about 10 to 14euro.

andalucia is the real spain, and it is a lot cheaper.

you also have to keep in mind, that you want to see places and museums, so the tickets will have to be counted into the budget.

honestly, get yourself a guide book, like lonely planet or the rough guide, a bottle of spanish wine, sit down and plan.
those books cover all the information you need before going on a trip.

It depends on what part of spain you visit.. If you visit Catalonia ( Barcelona and surroundings) its the most expensive area in the country. if you visit cities or towns in Andalucia and Extremadura its among the cheapest.. So its better to know where you´re going to before We can give you prices and deals.....

Have fun..

I hate to say this but Americans fall in love with Spain. However, most of them complain about average food. You have to remember that in Spain they have different eating habits to those in the USA. The food in Spain quality wise will be about as good as you'll get but don't expect American style food.
Spain in General is cheaper than Italy and other European countries. Cost of travel is very cheap and the cost of fuel is less than Italy, France and the UK.
The cost of accommodation will vary whichever part of Spain you go but you should get some good deals in November on the Costas and more probably inland. Alicante to Malaga should give you good weather in November.

Keep in mind, while the current weak US dollar makes Europe expensive, Spain continues to be
less expensive for the traveler than France, Italy, the UK, and Ireland!
One of the nice things about Spain is that you can spend very little (€15) or a whole lot (€1,000+) per night, depending on what you desire in an accommodation.
