mmm, maybe nothing really comparable to those, but La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona is quite a landmark. |

as hteqiqi said, there is always the library. Or, here's an idea: search the internet. You have a computer in front of you if you are reading this, so...search monuments in Spain.
Since you went with iconic landmarks in the Capital cities, I would say, Plaza Mayor, CĂbeles Fountain, or Puerta de Alcalá for Madrid. There are landmarks in most major cities that represent the city itself. |

Go a library...find a travel book about spain, a little guide it is enough, You will find out many things...and photos.
For sure in a good library will help You.
Spain has churches, palaces from 10th century in good condition to see.
Also the best beaches from Europe in South of Spain.
Get a travelling guide better. |

I would say La Sagrada Familia is the "thing" for Spain. It's incredible. It's been under construction for the past 150 years (or something like that - i have a bad head for dates).
Here are a couple of pics, google for more info....

Take your pick:
Granada: La Alhambra
Barcelona: La Sagrada Familia, Parque Guell, La Pedrera, Casa Batllo
Madrid: Parque de Retiro (The "Central Park" of Madrid), Palacio Real (Royal Palace), Plaza Mayor
Cordoba: La Mezquita
Seville: Plaza de Espana, Catedral de Sevilla
Bilbao: Guggenheim Museum |

Spain is a very big country. So you have to specify a bit. Best, contact the Spanish turisme office and specify a bit.
Madrid: Palacio Real, El Prado
Granada: La Alhambra and El Generalife
Sevilla: the cathedral
etc etc |

I'd say El Escorial - half palace, half monastery. It's in a very severe classical style not at all a 'fun' creation like the Eiffel Tower or Big Ben.
I'd kind of agree regarding La Sagrada Familia but that is in Barcelona which is the capital of Catalonia and many Catalans do not regard themselves as Spanish - but that's a whole can of worms I would not like to delve into. |
