I don't think you're going to enjoy swimming that late, but you could get lucky.
It will be chilly mornings in Madrid, but I think you'll have pretty good weather...you won't have to wait in line for an hour and a half to two hours to get into the Prado, and you'll Probably have sun, if cool weather...bring layers.
Barcelona, possibly a bit warmer...I have never been there except in the summer.
Málaga...I was there in late November, and came back home, telling people how nasty it was and they all said: well what do you expect? It's wintertime! (I had gone to meet up with someone, not to experience the beach...or I would have been sorely disappointed!) So I doubt it will be terribly warm..plan to do more sightseeing, and bring along your bathing suit in case you have the opportunity. After all, how much space does your bathing suit take up in the suitcase?
Or you could skip Málaga, and go to Sevilla/Granada, where you won't be planning to swim, and the sightseeing, again, will be wonderful, and the lines much shorter than peak seasons! |

You could easily be swimming in the malaga area i was up there a few years back and the sand was too hot to walk on and the water was warm that was for two weeks ,equally i have known it quite wet and cool so it is a toss up but go prepared,i live down on the costa blanca and have been in the sea in mid october for about 5 years and its been fine.
good luck. |

I dont think youll be able to go swimming in those months... its only september and people is already wearing light jackets, a few days ago started raining pretty heavily in Madrid and the north of Spain... But I will tell you this: while we spaniards go with jackets and long pants, brittish tourists walk around in tshirts and shorts. |

No,I don´t think you will be swimming. It gets quite nippy then...It can easily be around 10 ºC in the mornings and maybe go up to 18 at day time.
Malaga will be a bit wormer maybe, but not much more..... |
