Spain itinerary? |
I am planning to go to Spain in the coming Christmas. Can you please suggest what are the good places to see and amount of time one should spend in each place? Even though I have only 6 days, I don't want to rush up things. Some places I was thinking of are Barcelona (3 days), Madrid (2 days) and Toleno (1 day). Will this is sufficient? |

Definitely not enough time to see everything! I spent 5 days in Barcelona and 5 days in Madrid and still only scratched the surface.
The best way to get to the most tourist spots in each of these cities is the tourist loop bus. There are several routes in each city, so if you only have time for one route, make sure to pick the one that includes the most sites you want to see.
In Barcelona, Placa Cataluyna is a very central place where you can get on either tourist bus route. Near there is Palau de la Musica Catalana. You should try to go to a concert at the Palau -- the architecture inside is fantastically crazy and beautiful.
In Madrid, you may want to concentrate your touring around Plaza del Sol. It's not too far from the main museums -- the Prado, being the most famous. You can also get at least one of the tourist bus routes from this area.
Buena Suerte. Ten un buen viaje. |

Toledo is a 45 minutes train ride on a high-speed suburb train. So you can do it out of Madrid.
For Train connections an prices see www.renfe.es. If you are planning to take the train from Barcelona to Madrid, you will travel on a conventional line to Tarragona and from there on on high speed to Madrid. It is a worthwile alternative to airtraver. But make reservations in advance!
In Barcelona, as well as in Madrid they have turist bus lines, which bring you to the miost interesting places. You can hop off/hop on on every stop. Both cities have a totally different character!!! Madrid can be bitter cold in winter. See www.inm.es, the meterological institue of Spain.
For Madrid I recommend to use the 10-trips-ticket, valid for subway and public transport (buses), but not for the turist buses. Most probably there is something similar in Barcelona.
Have a beautiful trip and Bienvenido a España! |

People like Madrid a lot. I personally cant stand it.
6 days is not much. Definitely Barcelona, from Madrid the fantastic city of Sevilla is only 2.5 high speed train ride away. I would highly recommend considering going to Sevilla for a night if you can swing it. |

Madrid is quite far from Barcelona, unless u get a plain, which can cost u a small fortune in Xmas. Be prepared to drive for about 6 hours.
Madrid is huge. So won´t do/see much in 2 days.
Stay the whole time either in Madrid or Barcelona or somewhere else. If u start travelling around, you will spend most of your time in a car/coach. And roads are full during Xmas!! |
