Spain´s AVE train wont sell me tickets? |
I´m trying to get from Atoche in Madrid to Tarragon (Spain) on the AVE, but on renfe's website, it only gives me ticket options that take like 7 or 8 hours to get there when it should get there in less than 3. why is this?? do i have to call to buy them or something? can I buy them on another website?? please help! |

There is no need to go to Barcelona, then to Tarragona. You can get to Tarragona on the Madrid->Barcelona AVE train.
However the AVE train stops at a different station, called "Camp de Tarragona". The Camp de Tarragona station about 5 miles inland from the city of Tarragona [where the "Tarragona" station is located]
The trip from Madrid to Camp de Tarragona takes about 2 hours 45 minutes. On renfe.es, you will see the station listed as "Camp Tarragona" or "Tarragona Camp".
Bus# 1 goes between the Camp de Tarragona station and Tarragona's train station and bus station

The bus schedule is coordinated with the AVE arrivals and departures.
For example: AVE 03093 leaves Madrid Atocha 09:30 and arrives Camp de Tarragona 12:11. Then, bus#1 leaves Camp de Tarragona 12:24 and arrives at Tarragona city station 12:58. That's downtown Madrid to downtown Tarragona in less than 3.5 hours.
I'm sure you can get a taxi. However, if possible I'd take the bus [at least you would know it's a fixed rate]. |

You can book this on the RENFE using the AVE train by breaking the trip into two parts - Madrid to Barcelona on the AVE and then another ticket from Barcelona to Tarragon. The total travel time will be about 3 hr 54 min.
I don't know why the site doesn't support this combination as a single transaction. |
