Spanish Moped? |
My boyfriends 15 year old son lives in Spain with his mother,(sons mother)they moved there just over a year ago, and lately talk has been of him getting a moped, just to run about on. My boyfriend doesn't trust his ex to tell him the whole story regarding everything he needs to be legal so i was looking for someone to tell me; All the documentation etc he will need
What tests he will have to do
Insurance what kind
And just anything else that you think might be relevant

It's legal for him to get a moped at 16, but I think the max is 50cc. He will have to take exams just like getting a motorbike license anywhere else in the world. He will need to be insured and registerd just the same as any other road user. I'm sure his mother would want him to do everything by the book too, for the child's safety if no other reason.
Having said that - the roads here in Spain are crazy, i don't think i would let my kid ride a moped on them, given the amount of accidents I have seen. I wouldn't even ride a moped. |

I had this , with my son. First. I think that you will find that they have to be 16 nowadays. ( they have been trying to change the law for years)Even so, there are not many insurance companies that like insuring minors on bikes.And if they do, its expensive. Also you can only get third party insurance on bikes.Thats why a lot of the kids get the insurance in their parents name. My broker told me , that really that is worth nothing and not totally legal. It is very easy to get a bike license for them over here. The other thing is that the police are very laid back in this area of spain (ie. crash helmets) |

the legal age to ride a moped in spain is 14 although you cant have anybody on the back and the max they can ride is 50cc. they also need a licence and insurance |
