Yes. There have been fires in tenerife due to the heatwave conditions but it's not near the coast so I wouldn't worry if you re going on holiday there . It's been as hot as 41c at the coast and 42c at santa cruz and it gets even hotter inland when there's a Kalima. It's cooled down to normal temperatures now so don't worry. Devastating though for all the wildlife and people who have had to evacuate their homes.

The Spanish press have said the man responsible has been arrested. I live in Spain and we live with the threat of fires. Just be careful with cigarettes when there. Every hot country have fires at times. Enjoy your holiday & don't worry.
