What do you want to do when you get there?
Both have well developed tourist resorts, Tenerife probably being the most developed of the two.
Beside the large resorts with the usual nightlife, lots of shops and restaurants, Tenerife also has the Teide national park. You can take a cable car almost to the very top of the volcano. |
|

you know why...

Well I have been to Tenerife with my bf. We went last year in June to Playa das Americas for ten days. It was relatively expensive then but now with the euro almost equalling the pound anywhere you go with the euro then it is going to be expensive.
It was a nice place, great beaches and also we went on three excursions: the water park (aqualand), the zoo (loro park) and also we went on a guided tour to see the volcanoes. The volcanoes weren't all that great because we didn't go up to the top of the hill/Mountain as it was too expensive.
Usually i do not like seeing animals in enclosed spaces but loro park was a really great experience. The park had lots of different animals which you could really see (obviously!..it is a zoo after all!) but also offered lots of shows (included in the price so no extra cost), the best one was the killer whale show, as you could sit quite close to the pool and it was amazing to see the killer whales so close.
I would recommend going to tenerife unfortunately i can't compare it with gran canaria as haven't been there. |

Personally I prefer Gran Canaria to Tenerife - it's a bigger island with more to see. But out of the Canaries, I loved Lanzarote - really out of this world. It all depends what kind of holiday you want. Tenerife is for the young who want to party all the time, Gran Canaria is for the families and Lanzarote is more for people who want to tour round the island and take in the unusual scenery. |

umm ive been to all except tenerife. wasnt impressed with gran canaria, stayed in puerto rico. it was a dump!! weather was great but the place on whole was awful, dirty, strat cats, nightmare on a night time with the touts!
Depends on what your looking for i guess.
Personally id give tenerife a go.
Lanzarote's nice aswell |

Lanzarote is by far the best of these islands. its is spotless and unspoilt .There is plenty of things to do and some beautiful excursions
I would recommend Puerto Del Carmen (the old town)
i have been to some wonderful countries but this is the best and my family keep returning every year. |

i've been to tenerife and gran canaria, they're both great but i think i like gran canaria better.it seemed hotter and just overall less tourist-y if you see what i mean? but it depends what you want. :)
oh! and i rode a camel in gran canaria, not in tenerife! i would go there JUST because of that! xD |
