The Best places to go in Barcelona in one day?

Salva has it down.

But I would do it this way: START at the Plaça de Catalunya, take the bus for the Eixample (Passeig de Gracia) and then walk down the Ramblas in the evening...save your feet. The tour bus costs about 20€, and you can hop on hop off, and see whatever sights you want to.
I recommend Parc GĂĽell, Le Pedrera and Sagrada Familia.

While strolling the Ramblas, detour into the BarrĂ Gotic for a little bit. Go into the Cathedral, etc. yup. Churches - Spain - see them!

In my opinion I will cover the Paseo de Gracia (it's a boulevard) with stunning catalan art nouveau buildings (modernismo catalán) that is typical in Barcelona. You end at the Plaza Cataluña, and from here also starts an important street, the famous Ramblas. The Gothic quarter is the Barcelona's old town, and it's near the Ramblas. I think you can cover this the same day. The Sagrada Familia is a little further, but it's a must-see since it's the Barcelona's (also we call it Barna) landmark.

You can take one of the tourist buses, there are a couple of routes. They stop every 15 minutes and information is given in a variety of languages, so is the leaflet provided. You can choose what you want see and get on and off the bus accordingly. It´s a great city and like this you can see a lot in one day.
