That will depend on where you live and whether you are on mains gas. Have you considered thinking about underfloor or under tile wiring. It's cheap to install and can help make your house comfortable to live in. The other alternative is to have air-con which will cool your house in summer but warm it up in winter. Central heating is very unusual in Spain. Many Brits coming here to Spain often carpet their house to keep it warm. Having said all that. Winters aren't as long here in Spain and depending on where you live, the temperature doesn'drop as far.
Edit; The gas used in Spain comes from two companies. Repsol in orange bottles and Cepsa comes in aluminium bottles. The gas used is butane unlike the UK which is propane. The orange bottles from Repsol weigh the same empty as a full aluminium one from Cepsa. You must have a contract to use this form of gas. Many people have been given them by friends, but if a problem arises there will be no compensation. |

Gas is the most dangerous(if you are the worrying type ) and the most open to fraudulent bogus gas men and fiddles. There are two types / grades of propano(propane liquid gas) in red painted cylinders, plain red and red with black band near the top,one is crude propane, the other is refined propane.Or you can go for the storage tank option with gas vent pressure regulator. There are obvious dangers with liquid gases,if the gas vapour is ignited, on leaking, the flame follows back to the source.Oil heating, with a storage tank has other problems ,but is relatively safer. The cost would be decided by factors such as ,is the tank storage your private, one cash payment property,or is it rented at a monthly rent plus the cost of the oil or gas.You need to look at all these things before proceeding.Good luck with it.In either case ,it will probably involve a contract with CEPSA. |

It depends what kind of gas. Do you mean "gas de ciudad" or city gas...which would be natural gas...probably the cheapest and most convenient.
Gas, as in propane gas...oh, you'll have to deal with those heavy bottles. Not for me.
Oil will be the most expensive choice. Also the least ecologically friendly--I think, but am not sure. |

I would advise neither, the winters are not long enough to warrant the expense, we have a wood burning fire, its lovely, get one with glass doors, less smoke and much more secure.
Like another writer says, you can have a/c with heat function also, its a good idea mine works this way.
I do have a few carpets around, which you can take up during the summer months, just a note, today is lovely and warm 20 degs, clear blue skies.................on the costa del sol...........bye |

Natural gas is less expense then oil, at least it is in America. Oil keeps going up like the automobile gas, right now we are paying
over $3.00 for gas for auto. I hope this is a help to you.
Good luck with your decision. |
