Thinking of moving to Spain? |
I am planning on moving to Spain from NYC. Im an American, lived only here, but I need a change. Considering moving in a few years (3 or so). I don't even know where to start, but I know I have a lot of planning to do, so I was wondering if anyone could help me. Can anyone provide me with any type of helpful information they know of? I'm talking anywhere from document information to moving your belongings, etc. etc. I have no clue how to begin, so any help would be appreciated- thanks! |

1. Visas
The non European community foreigners who wish to work in Spain must obtain a work permit after obtaining also a visa before moving to work to Spain, they shall apply for the visa to the Spanish Consulate in their home country.
Work permits shall be applied to the Foreigners' Office (Oficinas de Extranjeros) or to the provincial office of the Ministry of Labor (Delegación Provincial del Ministerio de Trabajo), if the foreign applicant is in Spanish territory. If the foreign applicant is not in Spain, the work permit shall be applied to the Consular office of the foreign applicant's home country.
The Provincial labor offices (Direcciones Provinciales de Trabajo, Seguridad Social y Asuntos Sociales) will decide whether the work permit will be issued or not.

best thing to do is find a company that needs your skills and have them take care of the details. otherwise, contact the spanish embassy and they will walk you through applying for a visa, etc. very good places to live are sevilla, madrid, barcelona or most anywhere on the coast.

You just can't move to a foreign country...You can go visit, but you can't go to live and work without permission of that country.
Contact a Spanish Embassy in your country and find out the rules for immigration. |
