Travel in Spain: Eurail vs. Pay as you go?

I was looking at the Eurail pass (5 days of travel within 2 months) and then went to renfe.es to compare prices. For those of you who live(d) in Spain, is the price difference minute? Is it better to pay as you go, or is it worth getting the Eurail pass?

Thank you!

Eurorail is really good when u travelling for a longer period of time and more if it is among european cities. If you only want to travel for 5 days and i guess among 5 cities? pay as you go will be much cheaper!
train is normally cheaper than bus, maybe you wanna have that into account!
www.renfe.es (for train services and prices)
www.avanzabus.com (for some buses services)
there are plenty of buses companies, thats only one of them, but you can google "bus from x to z" and will get the right company.
enjoy your trip!!!

Pay as you go is so much cheaper than getting a pass.

Spain also has a very good bus system that is very inexpensive.

I lived in Spain (Granada) for a few months many years ago...I would suggest to pay as you go because if you get a Eurail pass you will feel as if you have to use all of the days alloted....so if you really like a place you won't stay because of the need to 'get your money's worth.' My advice is to not try to see too much at one time...remember that you can always go back!

Train travel in Spain is quite cheap so it's probably better to buy point-to-point tickets, and 2nd class travel is really good. Spain also has a very good, cheap internal bus system which can often be more efficient than trains.

I did that. I think we overpaid. I think it would be much better, assuming that it's the adult pass (which is what you are describing) to pay as you go. I realized after the fact, that most of the tickets we used it for were much less expensive.

And you still have to stand in line at the ticketing center to have them sign it, so you don't save any time, that way, and you still have to pay the surcharges (well, you always had to do that) AND you now have to reserve a seat. So, actually easier, and less expensive, unless you are doing really long distance travel for all legs, to pay as you go.
