Traveling in Europe... fastest, easiest, cheapest way?

What's the cheapest, fastest, and easiest way to travel from Spain (North East [Valencia]) to anyplace in France and/or to Italy?

I'm a college student, and have never been to Europe before. I will have 4 day weekends to travel from Spain to other countries. Would you suggest bus? train? plane? Thanks for any input :)
Additional Details
p.s., I speak spanish, italian, and french, so if some method requires a lot of paperwork or interaction, etc or something that's fine. i would prefer not to do tour guides though.

That is great idea. You will have great time in Europe. But you must to know that in France you will be have problems if you don't know French. They don't want to talk on English. Best way for travel is train. Is cheep. If you need more information's fell free to contact me. I will help you. EUROPE IS BEAUTIFUL, you will see

Train is the fastest, plane takes too long because you have two hour check-ins, and then you have to get from the airports into the cities, and they are expensive.

Buses are the cheapest, but who wants to sit on a bus for hours on end.

I would personally go by train, see interrail for best value fares and destinations.

Busabout is the same as interrail but for busses if you chose that, but like I say they take forever.

Euro Pass. My brother in law used it to go every where he wanted.

Better to consult a travel agency. My advice is go check the airline sites for any promotions or packages. Then try and get the nicest but less-expensive hotels (check websites) since you won't stay there much since you're going to get to know the place.

Lastly, spend on things you NEED and not the ones that you like.

Hope I'd get to Europe, too. Take Care!
