Have 15 days to travel. Is this too much. Thanks |

I wanted to say that Madrid - Galicia - Sevilla - Madrid would be a lot of driving, I think for the average person it would be cheaper to fly or to get a train or coach than the cost of fuel.
It is driving to the other end's of the country. Think of train prices are 50€ for each stop, sometimes there more sometimes there less. and fuel is (has gone up) to around 95cent a litre now (At the Hypermarkets) the branded fuels are as much as 1€+ (Still cheaper than last Summer!)
So if you did want to work out the prices you can now. Also some rental car companies wouldn't allow you to drive this amount of kilometers.
15 days, could even be not enough.
www.spainair.es
www.iberia.es -- cheap airlines that fly inside Spain, prices are from FREE (you pay 40€ for the tax) to 300€ !
www.hertz.es - a car rential company, there are others but this is one I know.
www.renfe.es - the train company
coaches... there are MANY diffrent companies, so you'd need to look at them from travel sites etc.
Have a nice time, you could stay in Hostels and Motels - a brand of motels is www.ac.hotelsearch.com there are others also - there are some others.
You'd be here for San Ferms (Running of the Bulls) if you wanted to see it for a day, you can sleep in your rental car. take a shower at the free shower points across the city. It is in Navarra - North East Spain, near France.
and rember you don't have to rent a car for the entire trip, if the train from Madrid to Santander was maybe over 100€ per-person but it only cost 50€ a day to rent the car and around 100€ for fuel, then you could rent a car for this part of the trip. & most companies you can take the car back to a diffrent place you rented it from
& Travel light - Have a nice time |

The one benefit of hiring a car, it will get you to some amazing places you'd never see by going on public transport. Your holiday sounds interesting. You will see some great places anyway, but public transport slows you down somewhat. |

If you really want to see Spain, a car is the best way, especially the north. You go on your own schedule and you can get to out of the way places. There are a lot of scenic places where the trains don't go. They do have good public transport. If you don't want rent a car for the whole 15 days, you could do some combination of train and car. Like pick up the in Madrid when you are leaving, drive North and then down to Seville and drop the car off there.
You do realize the Seville is about 350 miles south of Santander? And that Madrid is in the middle between those two places? You may want to consider either doing Madrid and North or Madrid and South. There is a high speed train from Madrid to Seville that takes 2.5 hours (Cordoba 2 hours).
You don't need a car in Seville or Madrid. 3 full days is enough for Madrid, 2 for Seville.
You COULD do all that in 15 days. But you are trying to cover places that are very far apart.See the website for detailed Spain info. There are a lot of other places you should consider that are between those places, you have a lot of time. Rent a car for at least a couple of days and explore! |

cheapest way would be by bus. 2nd train and 3rd is to fly. Transportation is extensive by either of these means and not too expensive (well i guess that depends on where you're from though) If you are trying to minimise costs I wouldn't recommend hiring a car, too expensive
I haven't done that specific trip but I would say thats enough time, I'd even try and squeeze in a few more days if possible |

DON´T RENT A CAR!!!!! You won´t need it, and it would probably just make you crazy, anyway!
WOW!!!! That is A LOT to cover in 15 days! We were there for a month and didn´t do that much!
That is too much! You should spend a week in Madrid, and a week in AndalucĂa. From Madrid, day trip to Toledo and Segovia, and maybe take two days to do Santander...that´s probably too much.
Eat wherever you are when you get hungry.
Housing...depending on what it is you want.. (you say cheap) Check these: Hostal Cruz Sol in Madrid...simple hostal...not terribly expensive (under $100-US/night) right on Plaza Mayor...half a block from Puerta del Sol. In Sevilla, check with sevilla5. We stayed in the Arfe apartments there, and couldn't have been happier! Steps to the Cathedral, and cuuuuuuute! Again, about $75 or so a night. That was the full-week pan, though..might be a tad more for a few nights.
Don't mess with a car...no place to park it, too many winding streets, all one way, and you'll never figure out where you're going...I'm fluent, and couldn't get decent directions! After three days, I was ready for the loony bin! I had the Rental company come and PICK UP the car, despite all the surcharges for doing that! |
