UK to Spain money transfer?

I tried to transfer funds from my UK bank account to a Spanish bank account but they wanted to charge me £35 to do this - they said this is the cost for them to convert pound to euro. Anyone got any ideas of a cheaper (or free!) way to do this? Cheque not an option as payment needed within next 2 days.
thanks everyone
Additional Details
I'm only trying to transfer £700 and getting charged £35 - I don't dispute that they have to make money however £35 for a £700 transfer seems a little excessive to me

It's such a con for banks to charge this amount to transfer international funds electronically.

If you have paypal you could try sending the money this way...

Carousel
Get a Halifax account in the UK and a Halifax account in Spain and the transfer will be free. If the payment is needed in 2 days then you must be paying for an express transfer and that's always expensive.

Can you make an internet transfer?

How much are you transferring? If it´s, like, 3,500, then that is the going rate for any money exchange....about 1 - 3%. If it´s less than, say, 1.166, then they might be adding a fee for the international transfer.

Sorry, Banks have to make money, just like everyone else.

No one is in business to do things for free.
