Visiting Spain alone at 16...?

I'm a 16 year old male and interesting in visiting Barcelona or Madrid. And ethier Gerona, Oviedo or Seville.

Am I likely to encounter much problem anywhere? I don't really have any problems alone in big British cities like Birmingham, London, etc. So are large towns and cities in Spain any safer/more dangerous than towns and cities in the UK?

Trust Me
No spain is reasonably safe. But you may find it awkward travelling alone. Learn som ebasic spanish and, even if it's poor, use it first before attempting to explain yourself in english, the spanish will appreciate more and will try to help you, but will be quite offended if you don't make the effort.

There are dangers everywhere in the world but don't let it put you off going to these places.
Just always be aware of this and if possible don't go to quiet places on your own at night.......common sense really....ENJOY

I suppose well you can get married when you are 16 and have a baby?what yourself go on a tour then you are part of a crowd and wont be so alone?when in Spain there are trips to go on watch yourself and take care of course enjoy yourself

I have only visited Barcelona & Seville plus Toledo & Cordoba; the latter being my favourite. Mind you, I'm an old timer. Barcelona is fantastic & the language is less of a problem. I have lived in Spain for 12 years & it is a very safe country. Every town/City has it's black spots! Beware of pick- pockets on the Barcelona metro. There are loads of hostels in the Las Rampas area. A good way of exploring the City is to take a tour bus from Plaza de Espagna. You can get off and board at any point. Eating in the Las Rampas area can be expensive, & of poor quality (for the tourists). Try the Olympic Marina if you like seafood. There are lots of students in the City; many can speak English. Ask their advice. Book to buy: Rough Guide to Catalunya (or Spain). About GBP 15.99. Good luck. Ed.

Villages in Spain are very safe. People are out till 3 in the morning including kids. Don't know about the city but make sure you know how to speak the language. I found it very hard as I could only speak English other than conversational French.

Most larger cities are dangerous but knowing the language will be the biggest obstacle out of the way.

Hi,
I live in Las palmas of gran canaria, i'm 14 yrs old
& last year i visited barcelona & madrid with my school.
There was no problems at all & no danger, all I recomend is Learning something of spanish before You go =).

They are both Beautiful citys But Dont Show Off That you are a tourist, && for an more interesting insight to spanish life & Finding the best Restaurants, Bars, & cheapist shops Get to know the locals
Try & speak Spanish, the locals will feel more obliged to help you if you make an effort, after all you are in spain, I meen how would you feel if The spanish came to the Uk & expected you to speak Spanish to them? LOL.
The spanish are GENERALLY very arrogant ( No offence ment) & They do not like it when people have better then them. But it is a Great place to visit & I hope you have a great time =]
