Vino...Actually, when I was studying there, I asked for vino blanco, and was consistently misunderstood as saying fino...NOT what I was used to, at the time, but, since they had brought it, and I had paid, I hated to waste it, so I depeloped a taste for it. Especially if you are in the South, and you enjoy it, or learn to, they will think you are becoming one of them...it's very widely drunk in AndalucÃa. If you prefer reds, drink "tinto".
I've found that few places serve "cocktails" or more complicated drinks, but a "cubata", soda or juice and any single liquor, is popularly available...gin and tonic is very popular, as is rum and coke.
Sangria is generally shunned as a poor drink, made in bars only for tourists, and generally made with cheap wine and bad liquors, only to make people very drunk quickly.
You should be able to find malt liquors at many places, and granted, the beers are often either bad, strong, or just unpleasant. Look for them at BARS, or Pubs.
If you like something that is very sweet, almost cloyingly so, 43 con naranja is available at most places. I loved that when I was 20. Now, I'm not so into the sweet stuff.
You ought to, if you give yourself a chance, be able to find a wine that you like, and will be able to find at a lot of places.
Or, you can always ask for tea or coffee. I had friends who were complete teetotalers, and when we went out, they would get manzanilla tea. (chamomile), which has no caffeine, either, which they avoided as well.
Good luck with that. You should be able to find something to order. |
