What's it like in Murcia, Spain?

It's surprising how the people that don't like Murcia like Benidorm however! It means they don't have any sense of taste!. Murcia has CULTURE. it's not just a region full of standard seaside resorts with any interesting things more to do apart from the beach and getting drunk.
I'm from Murcia so I know it very well. Landscape is almost dry except the green area inland (Sierra EspuÃ±a) and the huertas (gardens) near Murcia city and the coastal area near the Mar Menor (an large inner salt lake separated by the Mediterranean by a long thin sand bank called LA MANGA).
Except la Manga, almost Murcian coast is not as spoilt as other Spanish costas (like Alicante or Malaga for example) and there are no high rise skyscrappers but little houses, so it hasn't lost its Spanish charm.

Murcia city is the 7th largest in Spain (440,000) and it's an University town and services cities with some stunning monuments (the Cathedral), tapas, lots of parks, museums and nightlife. And especially lots of shops and boutiques and big malls.

Cartagena is the 2nd city of the region, 24th in Spain (210,000) and it's on the coast. It's the most tourist city, full of ancient remains (Roman, Punic), military fortifications and lots of modernist buildings. The port and the promenade is fabulouse. Lots of museums as well.

Murcia is a region of Spain, and there is also a city Murcia so where are you going exactly?

It is pretty flat, known for growing lots of veg, and rather dull.

hi murcia is 100% beautiful spanish city where the tapas are divine the SHOPPING
is fab not designer though and the nightlife is as fast as you want it to be good luck i would not recommend it as a hen night unless you no where you are going and beware of safety at all times have fun

It is a relaxed place for me. I love the Mar Menor (Minor Sea), culture, hikes, etc

Much the same as any other Spanish city,it has culture,history,nice cafes and bars,good food and dodgy areas,If you`re going to just Murcia then it`s fine,if you`re going to any of the sea side towns then again it`s dine,just be aware of pickpockets and rip off merchants who charge a little higher if they know you`re British,

i live in costa blanca, Almoradi, around 20 min from murcia, not great sorry..................... would rather stay at home with a dvd!! why didnt you do benidorm? or barcelona??

Awful!The scenery is miserable.The place is awful.Go somewhere else and enjoy it.I go to murcia because I have to and I hate the place.It looks like somewhere from the mad max 3 film.
