Hi, I think that definitely Tenerife, it is the most beautiful, best stocked, most diverse climatically geographically and culturally, it has millions of activities from wind surfing in El Medano beach that is a flip out to mountain biking, horse riding, volcanoes, museums, shops, restaurants, and almost anything you might want ;o). Also it is a good base point since from Tenerife it is quite easy to go on short and cheap day trips by ferry to all the other islands. Especially La Palma, Gomera and Hierro are spectacular and also the others but they are too much Lanzarote too volcanic, Fuerteventura too uniform, and Gran Canaria to crowded.

I love Tenerife. My wife is from Gran Canaria so she would disagfree with me, but on Tenerife, apart from having beautiful; white san beaches of Los Cristianos. There are also the beautiful black sand beaches of Candelaria. There is great shopping in Santa Cruz, and steep cliffs of Los Gigantes,(as seen in the movie, The Princess Bride) Teide is also located on Tenerife. Teide is the highest peak in all of spain (not just the islands) you can hikle to the top of Teide as a day trip or take the gondola up and hike down if you'd like. I hiked up and it was one of my most memorable activities in my 8 trips to the islands.
The beautiful thing about the canary islands is that each island has its own unique personality. |
