2 pin standard European
That should be the same across the whole of Spain including all the islands such as the Canaries and the Balearic's.
**** Edit *******
Re: Jane S
They don't do everything different i'm sure, there are plenty of other european counties that have exactly the same power points as Spain. Not all European countries will have the same I agree but Spain is not unique.
This site will help, you can add where you're from and where you're going and it will tell you what you need :)

If your equipment has the standard UK plug, all you do is buy adaptors at the airport when you leave.
US equipment is best left at home as the voltage is different and as they say, "contact your supplier".
Spanish plugs are the same as most continental countries, the round thing with two pins and the earth at the top and bottom. |

Hi
The poster who said 'Standard European 2 Pin' was quite correct.
Most adaptors you can buy on-line or in airports that are labelled 'Standard European 2 Pin' will be fine for you with some exceptions (see my comments below). I would avoid buying the 'SWISS' brand multi-way adaptor as for some reason they have really 'fat' pins that don't fit some sockets.
Some of the confusion (eg Jane S's comment) may come from the fact that there are actually 2 'styles' of plugs and sockets:
1. The 'old fashioned' ones that are still 'standard european 2 pin' but the plugs and sockets are narrow and the sockets are sometimes diamond shaped. : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europlug
2. The 'new' kind which is exactly the same in terms of the actual pins in the plug *but* they are round / cylindrical plugs and sockets. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Schuko_plug_and_socket.png
Most new or refurbished buildings will have this kind.
The complication is that if you have a 'new' style plug (like I do on my laptop) then you can't plug this into an 'old style' socket - the narrow kind - (like I have in my very old flat.) If you are not going to be staying in an old building then this is not a problem *but* if you are not sure and want to be safe then ensure you buy an adaptor where the 2 pins are NOT embedded in a round/cylindrical base. |

blä blä blä - I can't believe there has been so many answers/confusing against answers xD if your from the U.K then you should be o.k with a Tipo C
You can use almost ALL the Euro-plugs
BUT
We officaly use C, E and F...
C is the most common - two pins all though MOST hotels and MOST homes will be able to use the E/F plugs in a C power point
If your from the U.K, buy a C (Euro Plug) it will work, if you're from the U.S then it will get complictated and you'll need all sorts of convertors and if you use two convertors then "bad-things-will-happen!"
i.e an iPod charger pluged into a Convertor will burn it out (I don't know how much they are in the U.S.A but a US-Euro plug here is around 20€!)
So if you get C two pins... they are the most common... some people (myself including) have a PC that has the French (E) sockets... and most of my extension coards are the German Schueko (F) standad
edit. Guiri is talking about type F plugs
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Schuko_plug_and_socket.png
Most Hotels will just have a standad two pin (with no Earth)
People are saying because in most homes, for example my Phone Charger (C) doesn't fit into my E/F plugs in my Bedroom... it would but it isin't long enough to fit into the gap
this is what you'll see in most hotels

Don't buy one at the airport, it will cost you double. Wait till you get here, it will be cheaper and you can get an English/Spanish adaptor in almost any chinese shop or todo 1€ shop. You can also get them in Ferreterias (hardware shops) but they will be dearer too. |

This is easy if you live in the UK.
Look in the Argos catalogue they sell English to Spanish Adaptors or wait till you get to the airport where they usually sell them in the airport shops. |

Quaint, to say the very least !
The usual two-pin effort, so take a converter with you ! |

Get an adapter or power converter to 200 volts. That's all and easy. |

Just bring a 3 to 2 adaptor...available at any hardware/electrical shop.
No converter necessary. |

They are NOT standard European plugs...they are Spanish (and they have to do everything differently there...just to make it more difficult for people wanting to travel...or maybe they figure if you get the equipment for there, you´ll come back...rather than going to the rest of Europe...you´d have to get new adaptors!)
Actually, the reason probably has something to do with Franco and the isolationism of his reign.
And if you go to, I believe it´s Wikipedia, there are images of the plugs and the differences.
I'm serious...if you have standard European plugs, they won't fit...the plastic part is too big. |
