There are many different regions, each with a different flavor -- it depends what you want to do and see.
Madrid -- the Prado (art) and Retiro Park. and much more.
Bilbao -- the Basque country. See the new Guggenheim. A beautiful city. Basqe culture has some surprises like lots of sheep and bagpipes.
Barcelona -- Beautiful art and architecture. Catalan. A more serious city.
Sevilla -- Andaluz. A much more typical traditional castillian Spanish culture. Moor and Roma (Gypsy) influences.
Santiago de Compostela -- a pilgrim destination for centuries. This is the north western Galician region.
There are also many beach resort cities and islands like Mallorca and Ibiza. |

oh god. Lisbone (Lisboa) is the capital city of Portugal!
everything depends on what you look for... the most touristic cities in Spain are Madrid and Barcelona (i like Madrid better than Barcelona). However, i think that all Andalucia (all the south) is warm and its worth it too. the Mediterranean in general is awsome |

Barcelona the streets of Barcelona are alive by day or night, providing the visitor with a safe place for strolling around, whether for shopping, eating or simply passing the time of day. There is also 1 mile long city beach with clean soft sand, ideal for sun bathing. See http://www.spain4uk.co.uk/places/barcelona.htm for more details |

Sevilla is beautiful.
Granada was amazing, one of my fav. cities. Its got a moroccan culture to it since its close to Africa. Plus the L'Ahambra is there!
Cordoba.... OMG the Mosque over there was breathtaking.
There is Cadiz, the oldest city in Europe. They have an amazing mosque as well down there and the ocean is gorgous.
Barcelona if you are into the arts as well as partying... place is crazy and it doesnt start partying till 12am-1am and lasts well into the morning.
Madrid was a lot of fun wish I had more time there. You can go see a bullfight and actually see them kill it afterwards. Its something to experience, and im not for the killing of the bull, but its not everyday you get to see a bullfight and see the killing of a bull. |

My number 1 would be Barcelona I won't try to list all the things to see and do but here are 2 great sites with listings.
http://www.barcelona.com
and
http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com
and just outside Barcelona is the Monistary Montserrat a must see http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/montserrat-spain.html
For hotels check out http://www.bookings.es I find this site the best for booking hotels around Europe. Maps with hotel locations and guest reviews.
Seville was very interesting also.

If you are down in that area drive along the "..De La Fronterra's" these are border towns from during the war with the Mohrs. Ronda de la Frontera http://www2.yk.psu.edu/~chc5/SpainProject/PSYtoRonda.htm
is the most breath taking of them all.
Spain rocks. |
