ABC
these 3 are on national level
Then local or regional such as
La Vanguardia & Avui in Cataluña
El Sur in Andalucia.

El Pais is the New York Times of Spain...based in Madrid, it carries the news for the whole country.
ABC is the Andaluz major paper. If you are going to Sevilla, and want anything like movie schedules, etc., that would be where to get them. |

While ABC and El PaĂs are national papers with regional sections, each city has its own newspapers.
For Madrid, I can't really think of a single (true) newspaper for them/us which is not part of a national newspaper. There are a number of "free" newspapers in Madrid like "Qué!", "METRO", "20 Minutos".
One of my favorite ONLINE newspapers is http://www.madridiario.es .
