What are some things to know about Barcelona?

I will be in Barcelona for 2 days before a cruise around the meditteranean and was wondering what I should do, how I should dress, and since they speak Catalan, what language should I try to improve my already good Spanish or Catalan?

Good question you have there.
I think you should dress casually, like you usually do. And you could try to improve both. People from barcelona like to hear their language (catalan) so you could learn some phrases, but since there are a lot of tourists and people who can't speak catalan, you could also learn to say some things in spanish.

Dress code same as any large city you will get by speaking Spanish or English

I not from Barcelona but have been many times.
Catalán spoken but Castillano totally understood too. If your Spanish is good then you have no problem. I reckon most Barcelonians are bilingual at least. English and French also widely understood as Barcelona is a major touristy place. Places to visit should include the famous cathedral.
Recent reports suggest tourists are suffering a lot of pickpocketting lately so always good advice to dress casual and take every anti-pickpocket measure you can think of. Wallets from open pockets or handbags are prime and easy targets but thats not much different to most big cities. Disfruta su visita. Saludos
