Can't get a decent cup of tea! (mind you; their biscuits have improved)
A 'thumbs down'? Obviously someone really doesn't like spanish biscuits! |

There are good and bad points, but the good outweigh the bad. I live in a rural area and have Spanish neighbours. It's great here. |

I have been here 26 years, married to a spaniard, yes there is good and bad points here..........
The other writers all have hit their nails on the head...............but in general life here is good, cheaper than most of europe, friendly folks, excellent weather, quality of life in general is far superior to the UK.
One thing I do hate, so do the spanish is the paper work, it seems endless at times, they have paperwork for everything, which in the end I suppose is valid but it can drive you nuts. |

Well, i live in Spain, and there are no bad points.
Accept all the English that come to Benidorm & Torrevieja.
If you go on holiday to Spain do not go to Torrevieja!
At night all the yobs come out. Most other towns are O.k.
And the Spanish are so friendly. There are lots of gypsies!!
In Valencia it is lovely, i live there.
Hope that i helped.
Adios!!! |

There are bad point about Spain?
Seriously, you need to be careful of your valuables. There are pickpockets about, especially in crowded and touristy areas. Keep things close to your person.
There are many different regions, and really, what is a bad point for you, might not be for someone else, and might not exist in other parts.
For instance. I don't like to go to foreign countries just to be surrounded by drunken English speakers who refuse to become part of the culture at large. That makes Málaga pretty much a bad point for me. However, if you want to be surrounded by British expats, and not have to use Spanish to communicate...it's the perfect place for you, but someplace like Segovia or Toledo, where few people can communicate in English, probably not your type of place.
I'm not a 20 something beach partier. I avoid places like Ibiza. If that's your scene, then it's the right place for you.
Bad points? I don't see many of them, because I know how to avoid the places that would strike ME as being bad points.
I suppose that includes avoiding areas where terrorists are more likely to strike, like Pais Vasco. Or at least being careful in the area. Actually, though, the Basques haven't been tremendously active, and are relatively happy these days, so, unless something changes, you can be pretty confident of that area as well. But if I don't mention it, I'll get thumbs downs from people who think it's a bad point. :) |

spain is awesome...
if your just trying to find the bad points realize that other countries have wayyy more than spain does...
it all depends on where you go.
you cant say that there is something wrong with their well done meat because at every place they do it differently.
you cant say that its full of english peopple when only a certain small area contains those types of people...
you see what im saying???
but the one thing that is not necessarily positive about spain, especially if you're sensitive, is the fact that their is a different type of "nice" people. it may seem that some waiters may be rude in most of spain, but its how the society is.
sorry if yu dont get what im saying:P |

Pick pockets. Be careful on the public transport and in public places. |

the Gypsies. Stay away from them. no matter what they say they have to tell you. but first you have to figure out what they wear and look like. it's not like in the movies, so put that out of your head. not wearing scarves on their heads and carrying glass balls. |

Paperwork - if you stay here longer it can drive you crazy.
Bank opening hours - they are opened only in the morning when you are at work, some open on Thursday afternoon. Thank God there's Internet banking...
It's dirty - one of the things I noticed when first came to Madrid - the streets are dirty, if you walk into a bar in the evening you already have to walk over trash, people throw everything on the floor. It's disgusting.
Punctuality and time - people are NEVER on time and "mañana" means tomorrow, next week, next month, next year (or never)
Anyway, there are many good things about Spain, come and see for yourself! |

There are not many bad points.
The only problem is that it could be a bit "touristic" at some areas, like beaches.
Sometimes, Spanish people is noisy. |

I live in spain and is a brilliant country, fortunately i don't live in a flat but live away from the town that is better because if you live in a flat in spain they have lots of festivals at night time and don't stop until about two o clock in the morning or later and people wont be able to sleep, and also in places like torrevieja, Denia and Benidorm few other towns there are a lot of English people, spanish are much nicer people with less yobs. Apart from that Spain is definitely one of the best country to live in. |

- Jamón Ibérico
- Málaga
- The complete lack of decent Chinese food
- Banks close at 2 PM
- Things close during siesta and on Sundays
- Gypsies
- Bullfighting
The goods outweigh the bads, though. And I LOVE Chinese food. A note on the bullfighting part: yes, it is "cultural," whatever. I'm very big on culture, and not huge on animal rights, but I am big enough on animal rights to know that bullfighting isn't right. Spain should maybe adopt a new style like those of France or Mexico, where no bulls are killed.
:)
Edit: Thanks hilverchas! I will have to try that. :) |

Unfinished footpaths in the tourist areas is what bugs me the most when in Spain. Second is the smell from the sewer manholes and third is pickpockets.
Otherwise I love the place. |

I HATED spain more than anything. They say if you love Greece you'll hate Spain and this is definitely the case for me.
I went to Salou a few years ago..
Heres the things I didn't like personally.
- It stunk of sewers, absolutely awful.
- Was freezing in morning and at night (I've been to many places so know its not usually like this abroad..was in spain though..had to go to breakfast and supper in jeans and jumper (UK clothes)
- Beach was horible.
- Everything was overpriced.. Paid more for most things than I do back home in England.
- Found it very touristy.. didn't like it. Lots of drunks and didn't feel like I was abroad at all.. Felt like England in the clubs on a saturday night.
Will never return again.. |
