In Spain the people are more relaxed towards sex,body,politics,religion....In the USA there are more opportunities to make money and find a good job.The people in the USA are more diverse and bigger.Spaniards have way much more family values than americans(very materialistic). There is more violence in the USA. |

Start with the fact that the people in Spain are Spanish...they Speak Spanish. The culture is Spanish. The history, literature, etc.
Then follow through to the fact that they are leaps and bounds ahead of the US in things like technology, green (lower carbon footprint) and people don't own cars on the scale that Americans do...they walk and take public transportation. Their food is fresher, and they don't use the hormones that we do...result of all that is that by and large, they are healthier than Americans. (and the food tastes better, too).
On the other hand, upward mobility is an American concept. While the idea has taken hold there, it is still more difficult for a person to move up socially than it is in the US, and their economy, while it was really hot for a little while, there, has more ups and downs, and deeper ones, than the US economy. The next few years may just prove that we are all vulnerable.
Still....my favorite country to go to! |

Spain is still a Kingdom where the figurehead is a King. The US is a Republic. There are 5 major languages from different regions in Spain whereas the US has English has the major legal language. Spain is slightly larger than the State of Arizona, whereas the US is enormous in Comparison. HOpe this helps get you started! |

Spain is a constitutional monarchy. The head of State is the King Rey Juan Carlos and has a bicameral government. The head of the government is the President of the Government. The U.S is a constitutional republic.
The culture is a major difference. In Spain people work to life whereas in the US it's the opposite. It is very important what kind of job you have.
In Spain they eat dinner late (by late I mean 10:00 pm at night on Monday for example). In the US the tendency is to eat earlier. Spanish food is really good, very homy comfort food, very simple, fresh and tasty. Lots of extra virgin olive oil and garlic. Tapas are part of the culture. In Spain they tend to go out at night to grab a beer or a drink no matter if they have to show up for work the next day :) They are very social.
In the US you can find great food but in the cities like NY, Chicago, Philadelphia etc... but the prices are higher. There's not much in the middle of the country! Cultural food in the US is very good, that's a no no in Spain. I love the restaurants in NY, so trendy and cool. Spain does not have that kind of atmosphere at all. There are cool places but not like in the US!
In Spain they don't really tip, much if any. In the US people are very generous with tips. Spanish people enjoy wine with lunch and lunch is the big meal. Lunch is finish with "cortado" (expresso with a little bit of milk). The have lunch at 14:00 pm (more or less), they usually have a price fix menu, for 12 euros you can have a great lunch with wine and dessert.
The US is multicultural, Spain is not as multicultural. Even though immigration is developing more and more. The Medieval Spain was more multicultural than it has evolved.
Spain is an old country compared to the US.
In Spain is cool to smoke. They love soccer. In the US is not cool to smoke and soccer is not a major sport at all.
My major difference if I had to pick one would be the people! Just different! |
