Madrid is a beautiful city, and after you have seen all the regular tourist attractions, museums and churches, head for one of the spots I enjoy the most , the Retiro Park - the Metro will take you right there - An oasis in the heart of Madrid , it is absolutely magnificent. Don't miss it !

Madrid is the capital of Spain. The Real Palace of Madrid is the official residence of His Majesty the King of Spain, that is used in the ceremonies of State, although does not live there. For a city of its size, Madrid boasts an exceptional number of world - class museums and galleries. see http://www.spain4uk.co.uk/places/madrid.htm
