First, look into http://www.Monster.es - if you read Spanish. If you don't read/speak Spanish you'll want to first perfect that before hoping to get a job in your field in Spain. Most job postings don't list salaries, however.
My educated guess is that your job could get you 1,300 Euros per month to start. You'll have to be very talented because Spain is required to first attempt to fill all jobs with Spaniards and Europeans, then non Spaniards/Europeans. There are LOTS of computer programmers and computer specialists out of work now in Spain so it's an employer's market. You can expect to make a little more and have more opportunities in cities.

2500 - 3000 Euros a month?! That's a joke! I live in Barcelona and I only know 1 person who owns 3000 Euros per month - he works for an import export company and is the boss of Greece and Turkey. A computer hardware engineer is not a very specific field in that there are plenty of Spaniardss who are able to do this job.
Just to give you an idea - a teller in a bank would earn about 1200 Euros. a supermarket check out girl earns 650 Euros (I know all of these people), Hotel concierge earns 2100 Euros (terrible hours).
I think you'd be very hard pushed to get a starting salary of over 1500 Euros. You would also probably as a foreigner get a 6 month trial contract, and the company are under no obligation to continue with you even if they have no problem (they can take another 6 month-er and this way save on taxes for contracts/holiday pay, etc.) Not to be the pessimist though, so enjoy! |

Salaries are very low in Spain - you will be looking at a base, gross salary of about 2500 - 3000 euro. The spanish witholding tax for foreigners is 27% (you can apply for a reduced rate for the first 5 years of 24%)
But it is a great country to live and the cost of living is cheap.

Without experience you will start on bad money. I came to Madrid to work (as an electronic engineer) with about 2 yrs experience. After tax I get 1400 Euro in my account, which is pretty crap, but a lot more than some workmates get who are just starting out. |

Salaries are much lower than the rest of Europe. If you earn €1500 per month you will be very fortunate. In todays economic climate just getting a job will be impossible let alone a well paid one. I live in a rural area and many Spaniards here will be lucky to ear €1000 per month. Some won't get near that. Having said that, the cost of living is cheaper in a rural area, but what do you want, a good standard of living or a better quality of life, I doubt you'll find both. |
