If you do not have lots of time and arrive in Madrid, you should visit (all of them within less than 2 hours driving distance from Madrid):
- Madrid (lots of museums, nice buildings, lots of bars and night clubs)
- Segovia is a must (you will see the 'El Acueducto' (Aquaduct), an amazing roman construction over 2200 years old - There is a very nice Cathedral, and a Palace that is beleived to have been the inspiration for Walt Disney's castle). Do not forget to vist Casa Candido (it has been in business for over 100 years, and you will see lots of pictures of very famous people in their walls) and try the roast suckling pig, it is just amazing....
- Toledo, used to be the capital of Spain back in the days. Lots of history
- Burgos, lots of history and very nice food.

No matter where you go you will be amazed

My suggestion, would be Benidorm, its on the Med-coast, its a beach City, the fresh calimari and mussels are awsome, the woman are Beautiful. There is this remote, waterskiing attraction, your pulled around in a wide circle, by a cable, Fun. The nitelife here is abundant too ! Its a Beautiful City, with a Mountainous view, you can also see what, Benidom looks like from above at Google Earth. Spain, is a wonderful culture, stick to the Med-coast and you cant go wrong !

hangi
it depends on your time. madrid first, and barcelona definitely.
if you have enough time you should go to sevilla and to the southern coast(malaga, and the other holiday resorts).

Barcelona , La Coruna and Madrid

Valencia is gorgeous! And not too far from Barcelona, so you could do both in the same trip. If you are going in March you should check out Las Fallas (fireworks!) Madrid is also beautiful, and fun

Sevilla, Granada and Cordoba, if you're interested in exploring southern spain. All 3 cities are amazing, they're my favorites in all of spain.

My favourites:

Madrid: Great home base. Perfect place for daytrips to Salamanca, Escorial, Toledo, Segovia.

Barcelona: I would love to live here--it's so alive and bustling. Don't miss all the Gaudi stuff and a side trip to Montserrat with a hike to the top.

Ronda: Beautiful town situated over a gorge. Make sure to hike outside a bit to get a better view of the bridge.

Granada: Alhambra. 'nuf said.

Tarifa: Fun young beach town.
