That is is a more civilized country than the USA. There are more fire-arms than in the USA because many people hunt but the murder rate is much lower.
I am from Barcelona, Catalonia, and we see ourselves as something different from Spain and have an different language (both Catalan and Spanish are official), so we feel identified with Quebec.
It is a place I would definitely like to visit. Some friends of mine have been to Canada and have told me it is a great place.
I suppose most Europeans regard Canada as a mixture of Northern America and Europe, as for example, even if symbolically, the head of the State is the Queen of England. |

That you are much more like us than US. And more civilized than them. Normally you don't go around shooting people, you don't have the death penalty, You haven't start a war to get the petrol from a third world country, your stile of life is more similar to us. And so on. So we generally have you in a good esteem(not very sure how this is written) |

Canada, by cultural ties and location, is tied to the US. However, for good and for bad, it is barely in the news. I think the general perception is that it is a more civilized version of the US and one that does not "impose" its will, both militarily and culturally. The negative side, cold as hell. |
