We write BCN, it comes from the abbreviation of the airlines. But we don't say it.
Young people also say "Barna". Years ago some people wrote it on the envelopes instead of the full city.
But we NEVER call our city Barca, like some "clever" tourists or future tourists call it. "Barca" means boat both in Catalan and Spanish, whereas "Barça", with the cedille ç (used in Catalan as well as in other languages like French) and pronounced "Barsa", is the popular name of FC Barcelona, the main football (soccer) team and nowadays the best team in the world!!

When they write it, they shorten it to BCN, but it could also be Barca. I did a study abroad there last spring and had access to some official government documents and they used the BCN abbreviation for the city.

If speaking about the town: Barna.
If writing about the town: BCN or Barna.
If speaking/writing about the football team: Barça. (Ç is pronounced S in Catalan, like in French).
In all three cases you can use the full word Barcelona (with the article "El" if speaking about the team).
I was born here and I have never heard anybody say Celonia or Barbar.
