What does my boyfriend need to get into Gibraltar?
My Spanish boyfriend and i are planning to go to Gibraltar this weekend what papers does he need ? he was born and lives in Spain? Will his DNI be enough? What about our car it is spanish plated will they let us in?Thanks xxx
Hi,
He would just need a valid EU ID card (DNI should be fine). Alternitively a passport will get him through just the same (I use both, whichever I can find first). The car's Spanish number plate should cause you no problems getting through.
Contrary to what other people are advising, I think you should take the car into Gibraltar as it would be a lot easier for you if you want to see Gibraltar properly (go up the Rock for example).
Oh and we dont drive on the left either! lol We drive on the right just like in Spain. But yes, we do speak both English and Spanish here so you and your boyfriend should encounter no lingual barrier.
I hope this helps, have a good stay in Gib!

His DNI should be enough, i ahve seen many spanish travel to the Uk on one, so getting into Gib shouldnt be an issue on that. There wont be a problem with the car either, but the place is so small, its not adviseable to take the car in, better to get parked in Spain and use public transport once over the border
cassie
passport,. park car outside, catch bus much easier

Just his DNI is fine and the car being on spanish plates isnt a prob just remember you will prob have a bit of a queue at the border both ways and also unless you have somewhere too park it (hotel car park) it will be a pain to find somewhere. There is a multistorey car park in La Linea that you can park it is for the weekend which may be better. Have fun!

He can travel anywhere in Europe with his DNI that's including Gibraltar. With Spanish plates you won't have any trouble at all.
You'll find that everyone there speaks English and Spanish perfectly. Have a good holiday!

He will need a passport
Your car will be OK if you have the relevant documents

paul s

You will need a passport and a good healthy liver as every other building is a pub.
