gilipollas is a swearword, that is too used. One meaning is to insult you, but other meaning can be a colloquial form between friends. |

The spanish often use expressions such as tio, tia or hijo, hija (son daughter) without their being any family relationship involved
Elderly people are regularly addressed as hijo/ hija in a friendly way.
