It's like an Arabic castle built on thee top of a mountain in Granada city, it dates from the 9th century. Absolutely gorgeous and worth a visit!!

More info on the official website:

One of the most visited monuments in the world. Stands in Granada, a city in Andaluzia state, south of Spain.

Granada itself is one of the most pleasent cities to visit in Spain.

If you intend to visit the Alhambra, buy the ticket to visit the main attractions in advance. The number of visitors per day is limited, the lines to buy the ticket are long. I could not get in the first time I tried.

The answers you received are pretty good. It is a Palace built by the moors and really worth a visit, because it's fabulous. I think you can get a ticket on line. You can also get them at Banesto or BBVA (which are banks), but I'm not sure which. You will be given an appointed time to attend. The best way is to go on a coach tour for the day as the ticket is normally included in the price (and maybe lunch). Most resorts in the Malaga area have coach trips. If you've got pots of money, stay at the Parador Hotel which is in the grounds and arrange a ticket for you. Enjoy yourself/ves. Ed.

a very big and famous palace in granada, spain.
very beautiful but a lot of walking and not very disabled friendly
book your tickets in advance as you will be unlikely to gain access if you just turn up
