There are 1 million unsold houses in Spain. Come to Spain and get a bargain. You may get a really great deal.

Look at fotocasa.es.

It is a good national property finder.

Houses in Spain are no different to houses in the uk except in the south we have all tiled floors for coolness in the hot summer months, in winter we put rugs down. Prices differ like in the Uk - apartments, town house, semi detached and detached. Obviously coastal properties are more expensive than inland and recently the prices are dropping. Prices where I live are approx. 150,000€ for two bedroom apartments to 600,000€ for four bedroom detached with pool. That's on the coast.
Where I live we have electricity and water but not piped gas I love my house here and wouldn't swap it for a house in UK, in fact I love life in Spain and would never consider moving back to UK.

There are websites...try searching Real Estate for the region(s)/cities you are interested in. Cause prices/quality/style and privacy vary dramatically,

In the cities, it's very difficult to find a private "house". As is typical of cities, most people live in apartments.

I was browsing Sevilla a couple of years ago, just out of curiosity, and found apartments from 80.000€ up to 1M€ for two bedrooms.or so in the middle of the city.

Try fotocasa.es

You can then compare rents (alquiler) and purchases (vender) for the different regions.

Both are most expensive in Madrid and Barcelona with Extremadura offering the lowest.

Properties tend to be much smaller in the south (Madrid and below) due to life being "en la calle" in the street

It is still far cheaper to live here, at present it is a buyers market, lots of bargains to be had, just depends on wether you want an apartment or house/villa, I prefer a house, I am no snob, but I would much rather have a smaller private villa than a huge apartment but it all depends on what rings you bell, my home has 3 beds, 2 bathrooms, 2 garages, pool, good sized garden, sea/mountain views, god I sound like an estate agent!!
Both can be roughly the same price and many villas can be cheaper to run as regards some community charges etc.,
Gas/Petrol/electricity have all dropped over the past 2 months, and some folks have even been getting rebates for accidently being over changed on their bills something which I imagine does not happen often in the UK.
Running car is cheaper, both tax and insurance wise and as fuel prices have dropped that is another advantage,
I have been here 27 years on the 24th April, would not leave for anything..............................

PS I live on the Costa del sol, 13 minutes from Malaga airport,

If you are interested in the Almeria area you could try looking at WPMS Inmobiliaria site. Link below. Also very usefull site is Ibernets.com.
Check them out.

Well, there are some very interesting territories in Spain. Where are you looking?

I spent a bit of time in the south, near gibraltar. Because there are tons of English there, you really don't need to know spanish, which was a plus for me.

They are having tough economic times right now. Now one is buying property and the harbors are empty and nothing's coming in or going out. The cost of living is extremely cheap though! 1.5 euro for a full cup of coffee 7 pounds for a clinique lipstick, 20 euros for a fine dining experience. Incredibly cheap! Housing is incredibly cheap too! You could practically get a mansion for 200k
