What is the TEFL job market like now in Spain?

I would like to move there to improve my beginners Spanish but I have no teaching experience or degree.
Realistically would it be worth spending time and money doing a CELTA? It would be the only relevant thing on my CV? What would be my prospects?
Whats its like out there in TEFL Spain?

Think you maybe pushing it without any qualifcations, experience or spanish language.

You should try signing up to the British Council. www.britishcouncil.org ? (i think?) They offer year placements in spain (and the rest of europe) in schools teaching English. They pay around 700 euros a month for 12 hours a week work. This would give you your experience and improve your language greatly. You could then maybe move on from that?

I know applications are closed for this september but if your serious then maybe you could do it next year?

No jobs in Spain for foreigners!

No experience, no degree? what would you think you could get? (or, for that matter, DO? It isn't that easy).

Depends on what area you are trying for. Speaking from experience in Costa del Sol there are practically no jobs in TEFL whatsoever and you will be competing with people who have a lot of experience. If you are prepared to travel to some other regions in Spain then you may have a chance. I would send my CV off to different colleges/universities and TEFL themselves to see what opportunities are around. I wouldnt recommend doing CELTA unless you have a job waiting for you at the end or you are being sponsored. Unfortunately at the moment with all the cutbacks in Education prospects here are not very good

Teach english forigen Language ??

All my English teacher's are from the U.K =] But they all also speak fluent Castellano and/or Basque (I live in a Basque speaking region)

Do you speak Castellano ? and do you have very good English ?

There are many people un-employed, but I've seen the advert's telling people to teach, theres' alway's a need for more teachers.

But I think with the amount of people who might apply will all have degree's... Isin't it nesscary to have a degree to teach ?? =/ I'm %99.9 sure it is...

check out that website it will give you lots of information, I also suggest getting in touch with a counselor on the left hand side kind of to the bottom, just fill out some quick information, and they are good about calling back within the next day possibly two. What they do in this program, is that you take a 2 months online course "or if you are near the locations" you can go to the actual place and pass a class to get your teacher certification which will allow you to teach English Internationally. I am currently in the works of going to spain my self with this program and everything I have researched with it and people I have asked seems legit. I also know personal contacts who have assisted the program, and it worked well for them. Maybe that can be one of your options. I don't hold a four year degree yet, I have only an AA I am taking a brake from school to do this. I am sure it wont be a problem, specially not for spain. Good luck!

If you want to work in Spain without speaking any Spanish, you're going to definitely need CELTA for TEFL. I don't think you need a degree but you might be tested on your level of English as it's not good to try & teach a language you can't spell yourself!
As CELTA costs up to £1000 and takes 4 weeks full-time, you'd need to be committed! Plus teaching isn't for everyone and most TEFL teaching jobs for beginners are with small, unruly children. Competition for jobs in popular places like Barcelona is really fierce so you'd be better off in a less glamorous place.
If you're going to spend that amount of money why not pay for a Spanish course in Spain where you live with a family?
