Castenetas (for gals) and Botas (for guys).

Esoteric: Bull ear, if you can get one. You may have to go Garp.

My friend went to Core Inglés and to the grocery, and found some really nice presents for the people she works with, not very expensive and very Spanish things, like olive oil and such. I also bought some groceries for a friend who had lived there and knew exactly what she wanted.

The thing I bought for all of my female friends was little bottles of this perfume only made and sold in Sevilla. I had even checked for it before I got to Sevilla, and couldn´t find it in large department stores in Madrid. The ordinary size bottles can be bought in any parfumería in Sevilla, but the little ones, only 3€ each, 1/2 oz or .5 ml or something like that, made, especially for putting in gift bags for conventions, can only be bought in one store in the Plaza Nueva. Email me, and I can give you directions, but can´t remember the name of the shop. Of course, the reciept I have only has the name of the bank that pays out the credit account, and the bags only give the name of the perfume. It´s called Agua de Sevilla, and it´s mostly orange blossom fragrance. very nice.

I also recommend ceramics, city pins, fans, hand painted fans can be bought inexpensively almost anywhere in Andalucía. Spices: we found a wonderful spice and tea market outside of the Cathedral in Granada. Picked up some expensive spices for a song! (don't know whether they were cut with anything, but they made my spice cookies really nice last month.) and of course saffron. Nice olive oils, olives, though going into anything that's fresh, like cheeses and hams, is not such a good idea, because those things are controlled. wines, as María said, are always a good choice. Don´t try to send them through the post office, though, should you decide to ship things home. That´s illegal. T-shirts are available all over, football team souvenirs for your soccer fans. My son bought a FC Barcelona jersey and is the envy of all his soccer buddies.

Wine is always a good choice. But if you do not have the room in your luggage(since you can no longer bring liquids onto the plane) and if shipping it home is not an option, then I recomend fans for the ladies and ceramics or CDs of whomever you hear playing on the street. They sell fans in all the tourist shops, cheapy ones for little girls and ones that are a little showier for the women. They even have these lovely shops that sell only fans. The women that work the counters can show you the 'proper' way to handle and open fans so you can show everyone when you get back home. I also found that musicians played outside cathedrals, palaces, and museums(basically anywhere a tourists might gather. The music was traditional clear.

The nice thing about these types of souvenirs is they pack easily.
