What is the best way to go Madrid from Barcelona? ? |
I found that there is high-speed train in Spain, and it runs from Barcelona to Madrid, with only 3 hours. But on the price make me shock, over ÂŁ100 one-way.
I dont know if there is any other options for getting around Spain or not, now, i'm thinking and comparing between train and plane, but . . . still didnt make any decision since train seems to be the best option but expensive, plane cheaper but have to go to airport (dont know how far) and at least 2 hours in advance, so its pretty much the same.
Please recommend me which transportation should i use, and is there any others. thank you |

"The Best Way" is not usually the cheapest way - just the opposite, as you've found out by looking at the high speed train option.
If time enjoying your destination is more valuable to you than money, bite-the-bullet and go by bullet train. If money is more sacred, go by bus.
If you're desperate to save cash and don't care how long it takes you could consider the bus ( http://www.alsa.es/ - 8 hours) . It costs about 28 Euros one-way or 50 Euros round-trip.
Flying is another good option, can be just as fast overall, and can be quite a bit cheaper depending on your hours and days flying. For planes, go to: http://www.vueling.com (usually the best option), http://www.spanair.com , http://www.iberia.com
For train, go to http://www.RENFE.es (you've already found it).
Best of luck and enjoy yourself!

You've already hit the nail on the head. The new high speed train takes about 3 hours, which is amazing and the added advantage of being able to literally turn up 10 minutes beforehand. The plane is about 45 mins (it literally goes up, then back down, doesn't even level out) but again you need to be there around 2 hours beforehand (in answer to your side question, it's only about 25 mins in a taxi).
To be honest, I'd say you're stuck with one of those. The normal train takes ages (over 7 hours) and a car would be about 9 hours, so I suppose "best" depends on how quickly you want to be there vs how much you want to spend!
Hope that helps!? |

Wow! The AVE is that much??? I didn't think it was. Check the discount airlines...ryanair and the like. They will probaby get you there for about 25 quid or so. (I'm guessing, though, from what others have said - you mustn't quote me). Or there's always the electrotren...about 5 hours or so. Again, check renfe.com for the cost. There's a translator in the site. |
