What kind of part-time work can you find in Barcelona without a work permit?
I'll be travelling there in a month to stay for the summer. I just wanted to get an idea what I should look for when I start looking for work. I only plan to work 2 or 3 of the months I'm there. Spanish is my first language but it's rusty because I don't practise it much when I can. I plan to take Spanish courses the first month or two and then work the rest of the time.
Thanks
Daniel Additional Details I'm a Canadian. I'm half Spanish and was a Spanish citizen but lost it a couple years ago. I was supposed to renew it when I was 21, but wasn't informed to by the Spanish gov't. I hear that Canadians and Americans can find work at bars/restaurants and paid cash.
It is very rarely as serious as getting tossed out of the country. There are plenty of hotels and bars and restaurants that cater to the tourists that want to work there. The good thing about working under the table is that there are no records. That means that even if an authority were to inquire you could say that you were volunteering.
The only trouble with finding work is that the majority of companies in Barcelona expect you to be proficient in Catalan and Spanish. Not either or. But if it's part-time just to make money while you are there on vacation or whatever, you should stick to the tourist areas.

You'll be working illegally. And can be tossed out of their nation if they catch you working without a permit.
Other countries are not lenient like the USA. They don't like people working illegally.

It is very difficult with out their "green card" to find a job, plus they already have lots of aliens without documentation so they are very careful with this.
outside Barcelona in some little towns some time they need a person for the fields to pick up potatoes or other fruits. but it is no sure. sorry for the news!!
