What language do Galicians speak?
I have read different things about which language Galicians speak, some say they speak Spanish and some say they speak Galician and few understand Spanish. Where can I find a few important phrases in Galician to practice before I go.
They have to be able to speak Spanish in order to get along in their world.
Many also speak Gallego. I understand that signs are posted in Gallego, and, somebody help me here, both languages? Like in Canada? That I'm not sure of. Cataluña had signs entirely in Catalán, so maybe only Gallego.
It's called Gallego, btw, not Galician.
Your Spanish should get you through, and you will probably be able to understand Gallego.
