Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, Granada, Toledo... My main recommendations. Lots of culture and history in all of these places...
Toledo is my absolute favorite. Amazing views. And only a half hour train ride south of Madrid.
If you like the beach, check out San Sebastián.
Extra time: Segovia, Zaragoza, Córdoba, Málaga, Valencia, Santander |

Forget the coast and go to the Spanish cities, Granada, Cordoba, Barcelona, Tarragona. Any guide will tell you more of the cities they are marvellous and steeped in history. Marvellous! |

Why not try going off the tourist trail and going to Tarifa...
it's a great town, on the Atlantic, great beaches.
Or you could go to Las Alpujarras...stunning scenery, beautiful villages.
Cadiz is a wonderful city...
Asturias in the north, Llanes a lovely town....
Spain... so many beautiful places to go to.....
Of the Canary Islands my favourite is La Gomera...not as touristy...much more laid back..... |

You should also visit northern Spain, it's beautiful! Go to Euskadi, there are beautiful places like Donostia and Bilbao. Galicia is also pretty...especially Santiago de Compostela. |

Yes, try Barcelona for a change.
Or do as I usually recommend. Stay at Sitges and get the train into BCN when you feel like it. |

Nerja on the Costa Del Sol which is one hour east of Malaga airport. It's a beautiful Spanish town by the sea. The surrounding area is stunning. The beaches are cove like and safe.
I live close to Nerja and I love the place. |

How about skipping the beaches next time, and seeing some of the COUNTRY of Spain...Why do you put "Spanish" islands in quotation marks? The islands that are part of Spain have BEEN part of Spain for over 500 years! They ARE part of Spain, and there is no quotation mark issue. You make it look as if they are only CALLED part of Spain in name only, as if they were recently and unwillingly been annexed.
Barcelona is good, though THERE you could use quotation marks in referring to them as part of Spain, since THEY feel like a different place...VERY different from much of the rest of Spain...more cosmopolitan, more mixed culture and people.
Personally, I LOOOVE Andalucía...Go to Sevilla, Granada, Ronda, Córdoba, Cádiz and Jerez.
Madrid and the area around Madrid is really special, being the heart of the country and the capital...Stay in Madrid, and day trip to Segovia, Toledo, Rioja (wine country) Quixote country, Ávila and Salamanca. Tour the castle routes (waaay cool! I love castles!)
I don't know the Northern coast very well, but there is Santiago, Santander, Oviedo, Bilbao and San Sebastián.
Delve into the cities, history and museums/monuments. Study where you are going BEFORE you leave.
Total change from the beaching/clubbing vacations that the cities you have already been to suggest. You might enjoy the change. (or not...but try it!) |
