I just returned from Barcelona this Monday. Hope you are fluent in Spanish because Valencians speak Spanish. In Barcelona, there are alot of Italians, Americans, Germans and French.

The currency is the euro, take some money before you leave town. It will save you time.

My daughter studies Spanish in Valencia and loved it. The people were very wonderful and she was completed submerged in the culture. Enjoy!!!

Valencia is a large and lovely city and has several museums, Museo de Bellas Artes, for example, Museo Fallero dedicated to LAS FALLAS, the local festival which lasts a week and ALWAYS ends on the night of March 19th. (Saint Joseph's Day) with the burning of the Fallas (papiermaché monuments created new each year) One falla is "Indultat" and gets saved from the flames, but all the others go up in smoke.. The new Hemisphèric, Centro de las Ciencias and Oceanographic complex joins art, history and a magnificent aquarium in 2 adjoining areas near the Turia riverbed. (The river was detoured around the city to avoid floods, and the riverbed has been turned into a wonderful garden area that meanders all through the center of the city). Other attractions are the Palau de la Musica, Palau de las Artes, Miquelet Tower, the Ayuntamiento (Town Hall), Basilica de los Desamparados and several churches worth visits. The Playa de la Malvarrosa is a gorgeous beach, with many small restaurants along the beachwalk.
The food is scrumptious, any rice dish or PAELLA is worth trying, and the fish dishes all over Spain are delicious...Try TAPAS...small portions or snacks of varied foods The people speak valenciano and spanish, and most will make an effort to understand and help tourists who don't speak either of these.. Valencianos ar very hospitable people... P.S. Don't forget your swimwear, the Mediteranean is warm and wonderful in this part of the country! And you have towns all along the coast that are also worth seeing if you have the time...

Eat Paella, Drink Horchata and Agua Valenciano, Don't miss the largest - and coolest - aquarium in the world!!!!!!! See the Fallas in April, it's wicked hot in summer, eat oranges, have sex with a Spaniard.
