In Galicia, Pais Vasco, Comunidad Valenciana, Islas Baleares and Cataluña, the people speak other language, but they speak spanish too.
Normally in the bars with a consumition they take you a tapa, and normally (not is obligatory) the people leave a tip.
In the bars if you can buy tobacco you can inform to the waitress, beacuse they activate the tobacco machine.
Normally the people lunch over the 14:00 and supper over the 21:30 .
The shops open over the 9:00 and close over the 20:30.
The bars, clubs, pubs... Close over the 4:00, depends of the site.
In Many cities of Spain you can take a bus in the night.
In Madrid the metro open at 6:30 or 7:00 and the last train pass over the 1:45 or 2:00. The bus open at 6:30 or 7:00 and the last bus pass over the 24:00. The buhos (night bus) pass every 30 minutes.
And... That's all.

It's very diverse. Depends on where you are going and when. I recommend organizing your trip around some type of festival, like san fermin in july (the running of the bulls in pamplona) or holy week in april. Barcelona is Catalan, a newer city, if you will. Madrid is the heart of spain, lots of culture, a very big city. Sevilla is typical of andalucia, associated with flamenco, etc... Have fun on your trip. |

If in Barcelona or the area (Catalunia) be sure not to say that you are in Spain. They would like to seperate from Spain and are proud Catalan, with their own kind of language. Same for the Basque Country. There they are even more into sepatation (ETA). Gallicia is another part of Spain (north west) where they have their own language. It is a beautiful country with great wine and food. |
