Hi, first of all you should check out the towns in the area and see what is on around then and try and see if you can fit it into your plans. Don't forget there is a holiday in Jerez on the 9th of October and a national holiday on the 12th of October so some places will be closed and you need to find out what's open and what you can do as places will close for the local holiday on Thursday.Bars, restaurants willl be open in the daytime and evening as people tend to eat out but
supermarkets, shopping centres, etc.. will be closed.
The towns/ places that might interest you are Puerto de Santa Maria, Rota, Chiclana, Chipiona, Tariffa, Bolonia.
Do remember that people eat earlier in SpĂ in and you often see tourists wandering about at 4pm looking for something to eat and they can't get served as vars close for a break. Go out to eat around 2pm and in the evening resturants / bars serve food from 9pm onwards so keep that in mind.

Check out Rota in Cadiz and look up the Hotel Playa de la Luz there.

There are more some more hotels in Rota, Chipiona,Conil & Chiclana, all have a lively night life!

Puerto Santa Maria has some lovely hotels and beaches so do check it out before you dismiss it. You can visit the Osborne winery / bodega there.

You should check out hotels in Tarifa, Caños de la Meca and Barbate for any special offers they may have for the holiday / puente.

Jerez is a beautiful town but not your typical tourist town. You should plan what you want to do there. Some good places to visit are the Gonzalez Byass winery / bodega. They have English tours and you're better to just take the wine tasting tour and forget the tapas as you can gert tapas in the centre quite reasonably. Also check out the Alcazar and visit the Camera Oscuro.

If you want a good place to eat in Jerez you could try one of the following
San Juan Italian restaurant
Cruz Blanco in the centre ( tapas spanish food )
El Bosque is good but very pricey 40 € a head

To be honest just walk around the centre and see where the locals are eating but remember some restuarants will close on Sunday so check if they open. Also remember it's not good to eat fish on a Monday as it's usually left over from Saturday as there is no catch on Sunday. Ask in your hotel to make some suggestions for food and try some places away from the centre too.
If you want to go out dancing etc.. most people go to Bereber and you will find foreigners there but it's quite hard to find if your not local, a taxi driver will drop you there if you ask.
Good luck and enjoy your stay.

Jerez is the centre for the Sherry making and it is where the best sherry comes from. If you have never drunk Sherry then get to one of the Sherry makers and have some samples with the assistance of an expert. It is a good way of learning and you really do appreciate the drink once you have done it.

Cadiz is pretty beautiful. Jerez is allrite, but Cadiz is beautiful go to the church tower and admire the view.

(not the bullfighting no way) but Cadiz is a wonderful place and the history is so interesting... Jerez is ok............
