I go at least 4 times a year. All you need is your passport to get into Spain. End of story.
Perhaps your friend has got confused or is giving you additional information. As an early posting said your friend may be recommending that you cover all bases. He may be talking about you getting a European Health Insurance card. This is a card which replaces to old E11 form. This card gets you free health care similar to the UK if you need it while in Spain. It simply proves you are entitled to Health Care in any EU Country. If you don't have one you have to pay. This is like a credit card and you get it free from www.dh.gov.uk/travellers
Another posting has talked about API (advanced passenger information.) This is not a form as such, it is simply information that your airline or ferry company have to supply to the Spanish before depart for Spain. It is basic personal information, such as name address etc. Most airlines get it when you book, if not they have an electronic form you complete as part of the booking process. If you don't give the information when you book they take it at the airport. The information is needed to try and combat terrorism. I am all for it, it they stop some nutter getting on my plane all well and good. |

What your friend is referring to is something that was started last year. It is API (Advance passenger information). Your airline who you fly with have the responsibility of collecting this information which are details from your passport. You will be asked possibly to supply this info in advance, but if you fly with Monarch they will scan your passport at the airport to gain the necessary info. It is an easy procedure and one should not worry about.
The police in Spain now require everyone travelling there to supply that info before they arrive. Failure to do so will result in the airline being heavily fined.
I live in Spain |

Your identity card. If you are from a country of European Union, you need only your identity card and if you don't have one, then your pasport. |
