I would have to say Barcelona http://www.bcn.es/english/ihome.htm
Go to this site and click on leisure, it has some really good information on Barcelona |

I would have to say Barcelona, as Madrid is totally overwhelming. But if you want something that is truly navigable and lots of fun...try Bilbao in the north! Gotta love that city. :) |

Barcelona - the streets of Barcelona are alive by day or night, providing the visitor with a safe place for strolling around, whether for shopping, eating or simply passing the time of day. There is also 1 mile long city beach with clean soft sand, ideal for sun bathing. See http://www.spain4uk.co.uk/places/barcelona.htm for more details |

Barcelona!!! big time!!!
I went to both and madrid was a disappointment!!! big squares, nothing compered to the beauty of barcelona.barcelona is unique
,You can find bars and clubs open till late everywhere in spain, it s the spanish way. but in barcelona they are all concentrated in front of the sea, u can go from one club to another without having to pay the coverage charge |

Barcelona! Madrid is nice but Barcelona has more historical sites, and the food in incredible! I think that the nightlife is more intense in Barcelona as well.
I have been to both. So cut the condescending attitude Martha. I have never known anyone to be so incredibly stuck up. Nobody knows an entire country "like the back of their hand". I don't claim to know even 1/8 of the US that well honey. Do me a favor, get over yourself. |

I would have to say Barcelona; it is young and hip. The city has a fine selection of clubs and bars for the nightlife experience and good sightseeing as well. |

If you are looking for big time and fun then definetely go to Barcelona. Madrid is very formal, arrogant and more of a shopping city with expensive areas to visit. |

Madrid for anything. i am from La Coruña (in Galicia, northwest), and i live in Madrid since a few years now... i have been to most of the reagions in Spain, and i know spain like the palm of my hand. MADRID is the best place to visit. the ppl are so warm and welcome foreigners the best. probably most ppl here will tell u barcelona because they only visited that place... but if you REALLY get to know both places (not like... oh that's a nice building) then u'll agree w. me on Madrid. every time i bring american friends, i bring them to madrid, and then to barcelona... and they always always prefer madrid ;);) |
