Puerto de la Cruz is a an old, grown place, lovely, more or less clean, it has many attractions, but not too many, to be recommended. Whereas Los Cristianos is an artificial town, with hundreds of skyscrapers, loud, cheap and dirty, lots of criminal elements to be found there, mainly just for people that have nothing else in mind but sitting at the beach in order to get a sun burn.

Depending on your age really. Cristianos is more for younger people than the north.

That Puerto de la Cruz is in the north of Tenerife and Los cristianos in the south.
The beachs are better in Los cristianos because the sand is white and the sea doesn't have rocks.
In Puerto de la Cruz the sand is black because it's volcanic sand, and the sea have a lot of rocks on the ground.
