Yeah, that sounds about right. I think the minimum wage is 500 euros. They want to raise it to 600 euros or so. When I first got here 3 years ago my wage was 5 euros an hour. I thought my paycheck was for one week but it was for the whole month. My advice is to wait it out, learn how to manage with your wage or open up your own biz.

Like the UK everything here has gone up except wages. They are really cr@p. I got offered a full time job the other day and the pay was 620€ a month!! That wouldnt feed my cat (if I had one) so I declined. Too many people looking for too few jobs....

I think that is a bit low. my friend worked as a waitress in a nice restaurant and she earned 10 euros an hour, but that was evenings. She is now working in a Spanish bar for 8 euros an hour. Wages are better if you speak Spanish and work in an area where there are a lot of English but none of the Spanish business owners can speak English, therefore they need you to attract all the Brits.

4.50 is about right for the Costas. The bar owners attitude is, if you want the job, thats the rate I'm paying. It's all about supply and demand. They don't care if the government have a national minimum wage or not.
