Pet shop is Tienda de mascotas.
You can found one in everywhere... i say all cities in Spain have pet shops... so is easy find one.

Your main problem is probably that the word 'pet' means 'fart' / ('breaking wind') in Catalan!
I've just looked in my yellow pages and you will find them under 'Animales de Compania (venta y Accesorios)', (sorry i have no ~ to go over the n)
I have nothing to add but to say that ytf is correct.

I read on and the two chicas are completely correct! The laws regarding cruelty to animals such as dumping them have been tightened. I am not an animal lover but facts are facts.

I have been to several pet shops while in Spain, but I guess I never paid attention to what it was called, so this is a good question. I checked online and found that the most popular terms are "tienda de animales" (animal store) or "tienda de mascotas" (pet shop). I also saw "tienda de animales de compañÃa" (companion animals store). |

It is called " Tienda de animales" sometimes in "pajarerias" (literally "bird shops") you can find things for other kind of animals too. I don't really know where exactly you were but here in my town ( located in Costa del Sol) we have at least 6. Next time check in Paginas Amarillas ( yellow pages) beforehand. Have a nice day! |

Tienda de mascotas or tienda de animales is what pet shops are usually called in Spain. Pet shops are usually found in shopping centres. However, the Spanish have quite a bad reputation when it comes to the treatment of animals and the Spanish government has recently tightened up the rules with regards to pet shops. That might explain why a lot of them are closed now!! |

I dont know what you're looking for but all big supermarkets sell pet food and some Carrefour have a separate section of animals and animal care such as dog grooming. |
