When is the best time to get Euros for my holiday in Spain in August?

I would get them in July. I don't think there will be too much of a gap to worry about. Set aside a budget in Â£ that you will be happy with, you will always get more Euros. In the meantime watch the exchange rates.

I get mine when I arrive in the country. Just go to the nearest ATM & use your card. The best one to have is from a Nationwide Flexi Account debit card. Just open an account for your holiday. 'Load' it up with your holiday cash & draw out just what you need.
Nationwide do not make any charges for drawing cash from an ATM within Europe & the exchange rate they give you is much better that any from a Bureau de Change as they use inter bank exchange rates which give a better rate than you can ever get.
If you want to get money before you go don't get lured by the zero % rates you can be offered. Search out the best deal for you from your local banks and BdC.

Now is a good time.
The Â£ is 1.1 Euros, which is it's highest for a month.
You can check on Yahhoo's Finance page very easily, but do remember that what Yahoo quotes is not usually what a bank, etc will give you - it's usually less, so ask before you buy.

I doubt it will make much difference unless you are exchanging thousands. A few hundred isn't worth worrying about, but if you are thinking you need to do it, the pound is better than it was, but some analysts say it will get better by July. It's a gamble whichever way you do it,

What are you exchanging FROM?

Generally speaking, it really doesn't matter that much.

What you REALLY should do, because, unless there is some major disruption in the market, which I think we just had, and won't see anything like that again for a few years....(but of course, that's gambling)
Is exchange a couple hundred, 1- 200 whatevers...into Euros, so that you have enough cash to get from the airport to the hotel, and a couple of snacks, until you find an ATM, then use THAT to get cash off your debit or bank account cash card. Use a low-rate credit card for most purchases, and keep a cash card or debit card for the ATM. You'll get the best rates that way, but truly, the difference is really minimal.

There is no good advice at the moment because nobody knows whats going to happen over the next few months, its a case of you pay your money and you take your chances.

http://www.xe.com is one of the best sites for getting the up to date exchange rates, they give the mid-rate which is the rate that is used to set tourist exchange rates.

After you get there. The exchange rate my be better at that time. Also check the exchange rate every morning. You want to pay as few U.S. $ as you can. Between now and the time you go to Spain learn have to count the Euro. That way you want get taken for a ride.

If you are the UK I would advise getting it sooner rather than later. .

You're right about the exchange rate being quite erratic at the moment. . but the rate of Pound to Euro has continued to go up. . as in it's worth less against the Euro. . So I would get it soon if I were you. . what if it continues to climb. . You never know, with this crazy economy we have right now. I'd rather be safe than sorry.
